Shots fired in Florida domestic violence dispute

On Behalf of | Aug 27, 2016 | Domestic Violence |

When a domestic violence standoff arises, the situation can quickly become dangerous. Sometimes, those involved may feel threatened, while others may have incredibly strong emotions. In Lee County, Florida, it is absolutely essential for those in a domestic violence dispute to handle their set of circumstances appropriately and do whatever they can to prevent the situation from getting even worse. From emotional scarring and physical pain to the loss of life, domestic violence incidents can be very challenging for the entire family.

Law enforcement officials say that multiple shots were fired after authorities responded to a domestic violence dispute in Lake County. Officials claim that deputies arrived to the scene at roughly 4:30 a.m. Shortly thereafter, a 42-year-old man reportedly shot at deputies. As a result, officials shot the man, who was transported to a nearby hospital. The incident did not leave any law enforcement officials hurt.

The disturbance, which is being investigated by the Florida Department of Law Enforcement, allegedly started when the man got into a fight with his 21-year-old son. However, authorities say the man’s wife was struck when she became involved. Deputies claim to have responded to several incidents at the home in recent years, including another domestic violence dispute.

Sometimes, victims of domestic violence need to protect themselves and take action against an abuser. In other cases, people who have been falsely accused of domestic violence need to prevent the allegations from destroying their entire life. When people find themselves in the middle of a crisis involving domestic violence, turning to an attorney could be valuable.
