Florida man loses job over domestic violence incident

On Behalf of | Aug 14, 2016 | Domestic Violence |

When reports of domestic violence arise, those involved may have a number of considerations. For the accused, domestic violence allegations can turn their entire life upside down in an instant. In addition to serious penalties such as fines and prison time, domestic violence incidents may also cause someone to lose their job or suffer irreparable damage to their reputation. On the other hand, domestic violence victims may be afraid and unsure of which course of action to take. In Lee County, and communities across Florida, people who are struggling with domestic violence matters should carefully evaluate their set of circumstances.

A 31-year-old man from Florida recently lost his job over a domestic violence incident that recently took place. According to law enforcement officials, the man grabbed his 40-year-old girlfriend by the neck during a fight between the couple. Authorities said that the two shared an apartment where the man had been living apart from his wive for a number of weeks.

The man’s girlfriend claims the dispute began when he returned from an out-of-town trip he took for his child’s birthday, where his wife was also present. The man, who worked as a code inspector, was fired as a result of the incident.

For victims and those accused of domestic violence, moving forward may be difficult. However, these cases are very serious and it is crucial for people to understand their legal options. To gain a better idea of what to do next, some people in this position benefit from contacting an attorney.
