For many victims of domestic violence, the thought of escaping their dangerous relationship is often complicated by several underlying factors. This is exactly what happened in a recent incident in California that left a woman dead after her ex-husband shot her following an apparent domestic dispute. While the woman and her ex-husband had been separated for over a year, he came to her workplace at The Oaks Mall in Thousand Oaks, California and confronted her. After what witnesses described as a verbal altercation, the man shot the woman, who eventually died. Authorities reported that the woman had previously called them in regards to domestic violence-related incidents while the pair were still married. An investigation into the murder is ongoing as authorities try to piece together the timeline of events. The woman leaves behind two young sons.
